Many traders focus only on whether the candlesticks are red or green.

But I care more about three questions: Who is buying? Are the inflows continuing? Has the market confirmed the rise?

As of October 21, a noteworthy signal has emerged in the market.

📊 1. BTC and ETH: Fund flows are diverging

On October 19, U.S. spot BTC ETFs recorded net inflows of about $527 million in a single day, their largest daily net inflow in nearly a month.

However, nearly all of that money was driven by BlackRock’s IBIT, while some of the other funds continued to see outflows.

Meanwhile, spot ETH ETFs recorded daily net outflows of about $103 million.

What does this mean?

BTC is showing a strong signal of institutional buying, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the entire crypto market has entered a sustained phase of inflows.

📉 II. The macro environment still matters

The market is still facing several key variables:

• The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield remains elevated, above 5.1%.
• International oil prices have climbed back to around $110, and geopolitical risks could affect inflation expectations.
• The market is waiting for the Fed’s interest rate decision on October 28.

If interest rate expectations and liquidity continue to weigh on risk assets, BTC could face further volatility even if it rebounds in the short term.

📈 III. How to trade from here?

I’ll be watching three key signals:

1️⃣ Can BTC hold key structural support and break decisively above the recent resistance zone?

2️⃣ Will inflows into BTC ETFs continue, rather than relying on a single day of large-scale buying?

3️⃣ Can ETH and major altcoins gradually strengthen, signaling broader market participation?

If BTC remains strong and inflows continue, market conditions could improve further.

If BTC rises but inflows fail to keep pace, while ETH and altcoins remain weak, be wary of a rebound that lacks breadth.

My trading approach: Don’t turn bullish because of one green candle, and don’t turn bearish because of one pullback. Watch the flows first, then the structure, and only then decide on position size.

Remember this:

Price tells you where the market has gone, capital tells you who is participating, and risk management determines how far you can go in the market.

These are my personal market observations and do not constitute investment advice.
