Hackers put supermarket freezers into “defrost mode” with one click. Is your cold wallet safe? 🧊
According to an IPinfo scan, 2,528 supermarket freezer control panels worldwide are directly exposed to the public internet and require no login. France alone accounts for 1,331 of them.
On October 11–12, attackers switched batches of freezers to defrost mode, raising the temperature of some to 50°C. More than 400 stores in France were forced to throw away fresh food. CERT-FR has issued an alert, and prosecutors in Paris have opened an investigation.
If even freezers can be remotely “thawed,” don’t take asset security lightly:
✅ Keep your seed phrase offline—don’t screenshot it or store it in the cloud
✅ Keep large amounts in a cold wallet and regularly revoke token approvals
✅ Don’t click suspicious links or claim random airdrops
