Could the problem with a trading bot be LATENCY rather than the strategy?
I’m building and auditing a real-time scalping system.
After analyzing dozens of trades, I found something uncomfortable:
The bot could correctly detect a micro bullish impulse… but it took several seconds between spotting the opportunity and executing the buy.
Result:
✅ correct signal
✅ real momentum
❌ bought too late
❌ entry just as the impulse was already fading
In a recent sample, the time between candidate → fill had a median close to 8 seconds.
For scalping, that’s an eternity.
Now we’re rebuilding the pipeline so that:
detect → revalidate → compare candidates → send order
happens in hundreds of milliseconds, not seconds.
The interesting thing is that this completely changes the question.
It’s not just:
“Which coin is going up?”
but:
“Will it keep going up by the time my order actually reaches the market?”
In my opinion, that’s one of the most important differences between a nice-looking signal on screen and an entry that can actually be executed.
I’m documenting the results, including the mistakes.
What would you look at first to confirm immediate continuation: momentum, volume, order flow, or latency?
