People say smart contracts can't be changed after deployment, so why can some projects still be upgraded? Don't panic—your class rep is here to explain:
Once deployed on Ethereum, a contract's bytecode itself can't be changed. Projects that can be upgraded generally achieve this using a proxy pattern.
Upgradability lets projects fix vulnerabilities and launch new features. The trade-off is that users have to trust whoever holds the upgrade permissions not to make unauthorized changes or lose their private keys.
At first, I thought knowing how to read candlestick charts was all I needed. Later, I realized that understanding the rules is the real beginner's lesson.
