The ETF approval is real, but the subscription link in the group still needs to be checked separately.
On October 20, Switzerland’s FINMA announced its approval of the first ETF available to retail investors that invests directly in $BTC. The announcement I checked explains the product category and risk requirements, but doesn’t provide a fund ticker or subscription link.
Regulatory approval of a product doesn’t verify the identity of every unfamiliar link. Seeing the word “approved” and skipping source verification makes it easy to conflate two separate things.
Lao Yao checks three things first: who the issuer is, what the ticker is, and whether the link can be matched to official information from the issuer or exchange. If they don’t match, a screenshot from a group chat isn’t enough to earn his trust.
If you received this kind of subscription link, would you check the original announcement first, or click through to take a look?
