At $85,633 above and $77,905 below, these two levels are sitting right on top of billions of dollars in long and short positions.

$BTC The current price is $82,547.19, up 1.67% within the range. It peaked at $83,439 and dipped to $80,684. The price is consolidating above $82,000, just $3,000 away from the dense cluster of short liquidations above. If it breaks through $85,633, the cumulative short liquidation intensity across major trading platforms will reach $1.659 billion, putting considerable pressure on shorts to close their positions.

Looking lower, $77,905 is the liquidation threshold for long positions, with a cumulative intensity of $1.372 billion. That’s nearly $300 million less than the amount above, suggesting that long-side stop-losses are less concentrated. But if the $80,000 level fails to hold, a chain reaction could follow all the same.

More than $3 billion in liquidation exposure sits on both sides, within less than 8% of the current price. Whichever way the price breaks, forced orders will pour in on that side, amplifying volatility. First, watch whether the range highs and lows of $83,439 and $80,684 can be decisively breached.
