🤔 A longtime skeptic is softening: Bloomberg’s Joe Weisenthal takes another look at blockchain

On Tuesday, Bloomberg opinion columnist Joe Weisenthal posted a thread revisiting his past mockery of blockchain, admitting that he may have overlooked something important.

He’s come around on two specific points:
🔹 Censorship-resistant ledgers
🔹 Transfers without intermediaries

What changed his mind wasn’t coin prices, but the real-world use of stablecoins. Reports from Coinbase and The Block show that stablecoin transfers topped $400 million per hour in Q3, and 73% of the volume over the past year took place outside U.S. banking hours.

My take: when skeptics change their minds, it’s often more informative than a bullish call. They weren’t convinced by price charts, but by the simple utility of “being able to transfer money on a Sunday night.” Real adoption usually starts with unglamorous use cases like this.

Still, don’t treat one person’s change of heart as a buy signal. A maturing narrative and rising prices are two different things.

Do you know anyone who used to bash crypto but is now starting to transfer money with U? 👇
