đș The YouTube channel of the worldâs largest Bitcoin conference has been permanently banned
On October 20, The Bitcoin Conference posted on X that YouTube had banned its channel.
Hereâs what they said: The channel featured only conference keynotes and panel discussions, focused on Bitcoin education, and they were requesting its reinstatement.
đč YouTube said the channel violated its âHarmful and Dangerous Contentâ policy, but didnât specify which video
đč The notice stated that the channel would not be reinstated
đč Simply Bitcoin was also banned before, but the ban was later reversed after community protests. However, its team rejected the condition that it had to change its name to get the channel back
Hereâs what I think:
The most ironic part is that Bitcoin is all about ânot needing anyoneâs permission.â Yet content about Bitcoin still depends on the whims of platforms.
Your videos, posts, and followers are really just rented. When the rules change, everything can disappear overnightâand you might not even know who to appeal to.
Thatâs why I make a habit of backing up my content across multiple platforms, keeping a local copy of important materials, and storing my coins somewhere I control. Platforms are useful, but donât bet everything on a single one.
Do you think YouTubeâs latest move was a mistake, or is it deliberately tightening its restrictions on crypto content? Have you ever been throttled or had your account banned by a platform? Share your thoughts in the comments đ
