SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to discuss a merger between the two companies, Elon Musk said during SpaceX’s third-quarter earnings call.

Musk said a merger was a good idea, but stressed that the decision depends on the special committees at both companies. The two sides have not yet reached any agreement.

Earlier, prediction market data showed the probability of Tesla and SpaceX merging by early 2027 had exceeded 50%. This reflects expectations on prediction markets, not confirmation of the companies’ plans.
