🚗 On the eve of Tesla’s earnings report, TSLA landed on Solana
On October 20, tokenized Tesla shares launched on Solana. They were issued by Backpack Securities and made available through Sunrise. The timing was notable: just hours before Tesla’s Q3 earnings report.
A few details worth noting:
🔹 Redeemable 1:1 for real shares—not just a contract tracking the price
🔹 Dividend rights are supported
🔹 Shares can be transferred back to traditional brokerage accounts
🔹 Integrated with apps like Phantom and Jupiter
🔹 Olive Exchange is quickly following suit with options and futures
Also, more than 1.5 million addresses on Solana now hold tokenized stocks.
My take: U.S. stocks used to report earnings after market close, leaving retail investors waiting until the next day’s opening bell. Now, on-chain trading is available 24/7, so you can react as soon as earnings are released. Sounds great, but it also means price swings could be amplified when liquidity is thin late at night. Being able to “trade anytime” doesn’t mean you should “trade at any time.”
One more thing: the ability to transfer shares back to a brokerage and receive dividends takes these products further than many earlier offerings that “only tracked the price.” Tokenized stocks are starting to feel a bit more like real stocks.
Would you trade U.S. stocks on-chain? On earnings night, would you get in early or wait for the results before making a move? 👇
