The flying cars from the sci-fi film "The Fifth Element" are becoming a reality today.

At a recent presentation on October 15, 2026, in Texas, Tesla officially unveiled a pre-production prototype of the new Tesla Roadster, showcasing its “flight” and acrobatic capabilities.

During an unmanned demonstration, the white electric car performed several impressive stunts. This “flight” effect is achieved in the top-end Thrust and Rocket configurations, developed in collaboration with SpaceX engineers.

Thanks to these jet impulses, the Thrust version accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 0.9 seconds, while the extreme single-seat Rocket version does it in just 0.55 seconds 🚀

Elon Musk assured audiences that production cars (whose manufacturing has currently been pushed back to 2028) will indeed have this “air-release” system for maneuvers, although regulatory agencies such as the FAA do not currently classify it as a full-fledged aircraft and will most likely prohibit activating jet-powered flight on ordinary roads.
