What a twist for Solana and SkyAI. They’ve completely sold off their SOL holdings and decided to radically change their strategy.
The company, formerly known as Sharps Technology, had previously been actively buying Solana for its treasury. But after the market downturn, it accumulated substantial unrealized losses. Ultimately, management had to abandon its previous plans and exit the token entirely.
Now SkyAI is buying back its own shares and warrants for a hefty $201.3 million. The buyback is being funded entirely with available cash and is no longer tied to the price of SOL in any way.
What’s interesting is that they’re not giving up on developing within the Solana ecosystem. They still plan to build a financial platform that combines stablecoin infrastructure and artificial intelligence. In other words, they’ll continue operating on the network, but they no longer want to risk holding the coins on their balance sheet.
What do you think—is this prudent risk management, or did they rush to exit right before the market’s next rally?
