An oversized position, no stop-loss, and watching the market nonstop
Day 2. Today, I’m talking about the first time I got liquidated. That day, I went in with a large position and didn’t set a stop-loss. I kept thinking, “If it drops a little more, it’ll bounce back.” But the price didn’t rebound, and I ran out of margin first. My first reaction after getting liquidated wasn’t to review what happened—it was to blame bad luck. Looking back now, it wasn’t bad luck. My position size, stop-loss, and emotions had all spiraled out of control at once. Liquidation doesn’t happen out of nowhere; it’s just the warning bell that sounds when risk has built up to its limit.
Was your first liquidation caused by an oversized position, no stop-loss, or letting your emotions take over?
