Germany’s Sparkasse has started selling Bitcoin in its own app. The news dominated the conversation for two days, but $BTC barely moved. I don’t think the market is numb; this money was never going to come in all at once.

First, the facts: Starting 10/19, the first batch of Sparkasse customers can buy and sell BTC, ETH, $XRP, $SOL , and POL directly in their banking app. The product is offered by DekaBank, part of the Sparkasse group, with custody in cooperation with the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. Each transaction costs €0.99. The entire Sparkasse network has more than 300 banks and around 40–50 million customers—that sounds pretty intimidating.

But only 5 banks are included at launch. The German Savings Banks Association says it will add another 30 to 40 banks each month, and most interested banks won’t be covered until the first half of 2027. According to PLATOW, more than 200 of the 337 banks are considering it. The banks have also made it clear they won’t provide investment advice or promote it widely, and they specifically warn that customers could lose everything.

The market tells it like it is: At 6 p.m. Beijing time on 10/19, BTC was around 82,760; now it’s hovering around 82,640—basically flat over the past day and a half. The hourly candle at 10 tonight surged to 83,439 and then gave it all back. I couldn’t find any direct connection between that move and the news from Germany.

I’m bullish, but not because “it’ll go up tomorrow.” This is a newly opened channel: German savers will be able to buy crypto without opening a separate account; they’ll just tap a few buttons in the banking app they already use. This kind of money comes in little by little each month. It won’t arrive in one big green candle—it’s more like a slow build of support underneath.

What’s really worth watching from here isn’t any particular candlestick, but how many more Sparkasse banks come on board each month.
