The wallet that stole $285 million from Drift lay dormant for two months. Today, it funneled 25,710 ETH into Tornado Cash in just two hours.
In April, it swapped the funds for 131,600 ETH at an average price of $2,154. It laundered 24,400 ETH in July, leaving 81,500 ETH. At the current price of $2,467, that’s an unrealized gain of about 15%.
When Drift’s compensation pool launched, it contained just $3.1 million—about 1% of the stolen funds.
Put simply, the money is being laundered faster than victims are being compensated. Keep an eye on where the remaining 80,000 ETH goes.
