⚠️ BTC has continued to drift lower after losing $82,000. How much longer until a decisive move?
📊 Market Snapshot
BTC: $81,570 (24h -1.21%), 4H range: 81,200–82,270
ETH: $2,392 (24h -1.41%), 4H range: 2,373–2,418
1️⃣ Wyckoff Perspective
Since retreating from 83,880, BTC has been building a reaccumulation range between 81,000 and 83,000. However, the lows of the past 12 4H candles have continued to fall: 82,010 → 81,748 → 81,200, while rebound highs have also edged lower to 82,270. Volume has not picked up, and demand has been too weak to absorb selling pressure. Structurally, this looks more like weak consolidation following distribution. If the price breaks below 80,800 and accelerates downward, watch for distribution to be complete and a new leg lower to begin. Conversely, a volume-backed rebound after holding near 81,200 could open the way for another test of the 82,300 supply zone.
2️⃣ 2B Rule Assessment
Price tested below 80,800 twice without breaking through (10-16 and 10-17). In the early hours of 10-20, it wicked down to 81,200 again but did not reach the 2B zone. The conditions for a 2B buy signal have not yet been met: a false break below 80,800 followed by a quick reclaim would form a classic reversal buy signal; a break below the previous low at 79,800, on the other hand, would invalidate the 2B setup entirely. ETH is also testing support near 2,373 for the fourth time; a break below 2,356 would confirm a structural breakdown.
3️⃣ Dow Theory
Highs have stepped down from 83,880 → 83,158 → 82,270, while lows have risen from 79,800 → 80,819 → 81,200 as the range narrows. Together, the converging highs and lows are forming the tip of a symmetrical triangle. Volatility has compressed to an extreme, and a directional move is approaching. ETH's highs have also moved lower from 2,494 → 2,446 → 2,418, converging in sync with BTC. If both break out of their ranges at the same time, the odds of a trend move starting are high.
🛡️ Trading Strategy
Treat this as weak consolidation: don't chase shorts above 81,000. If price breaks below 80,800, watch how quickly it recovers before making a decision. The first resistance to watch on a rebound is the 82,300 supply line; only a high-volume hold above it would confirm the range is turning stronger. Don't assume a direction for ETH before it breaks below 2,356. Prioritize position sizing and wait for the market to show its hand.
