The Shitcoin Legend

At 3:30 a.m., Chen Hao stared at his phone screen, his eyes already as red as a rabbit’s.

He was an ordinary food delivery rider, working fourteen hours a day. It had taken him two years to save up 30,000 yuan. Last month, while scrolling through Twitter, he saw people wildly reposting a token called GNS. It was priced at just over 30 cents, with a ridiculously tiny market cap. He thought, “It’s only a few thousand yuan anyway. If I lose it all, I’ll just call it a tuition fee.”

That night, he bought 5,000 yuan worth of GNS. After he bought it, the price didn’t budge, and he even forgot about it. Then, in the early hours of this morning, more than a dozen price alerts suddenly popped up on his phone, jolting him awake.

GNS had climbed from 0.38 to 0.53, a gain of more than 34 percent.

His hands started shaking. His 5,000 yuan had turned into more than 7,000—a fortune by his standards. He stared at the candlestick chart, his heart pounding like a drum. Should he sell or hold? Someone in the group chat was shouting that it would hit one yuan; someone else said he’d be an idiot not to sell.

He remembered buying ALT last year. Back then, ALT was only 0.008. He hesitated for three days and didn’t buy. A week later, it had climbed to 0.01. The 2,000 yuan profit slipped right through his fingers, and he couldn’t sleep for a whole week.

He didn’t want to miss out again.

Chen Hao took a deep breath and placed a limit sell order at 0.55. Then he turned off his phone and forced himself to get a little more sleep.

When he woke up the next day, his order had filled at 0.548. 7,400 yuan.

He hadn’t gotten rich or turned his life around overnight, but for the first time, he felt he wasn’t just a sucker in crypto. He was someone who could think—someone able to find a balance between fear and greed.

Later, GNS climbed to 0.579, but he didn’t regret selling at all. Those few hundred extra yuan were beyond what he understood.

Chen Hao transferred the 7,400 yuan back to his bank account and bought himself a new pair of running shoes. He planned to save the rest and make a move when the next GNS came along.

As he got on his electric scooter, the breeze felt especially gentle that day.
