Keep these points in mind about perpetual and delivery contracts:
1) Perpetual contracts charge or pay funding fees at regular intervals. The total cost of holding a position long term depends on the cumulative funding rate over that period.
2) Delivery contracts have a set expiry date and are automatically settled at the delivery price upon expiry. Positions cannot be carried beyond the expiry date.
3) When holding a perpetual contract for an extended period, include accumulated funding fees in your position cost—don't look only at the entry price.
