Crypto | Accumulation Radar | October 20
The broader market is down again today. BTC fell 1.6%, hovering around 81,000, and ETH pulled back as well. This kind of market is where quiet accumulation often happens: retail investors fear taking losses, while smart money quietly builds positions.
I scanned the list of coins with unusual volume, and a few caught my eye:
FLOCK (volume ratio: 38.8x) — That’s an alarming level of volume, yet the price hasn’t taken off. A sudden surge in volume with almost no price gain is a classic sign that major players are quietly buying. My take: either it’s a shift in ownership or a scramble to scoop up tokens at low prices.
MANTRA (volume ratio: 20.5x) — An RWA play on the OM chain. It had been quiet for a while, then volume suddenly picked up. Keep a close eye on what happens next.
Coins with volume ratios of 3–5x:
- AERGO (volume ratio: 3.8x) — A long-established Korean public blockchain
- ONE (volume ratio: 3.9x) — Harmony has been falling for a long time
- COLLECT (volume ratio: 4.8x and also on the slow-rise list) — A strong combination of signals
Slow-rise accumulation signals:
- METIS (slow-rise alert: 73) — Funding rate has turned positive; bulls are starting to build positions
- ICNT (slow-rise alert: 73) — Funding rate is negative, so bears are paying; a classic countertrend accumulation signal
- Q scored the highest at 82, but it’s already up 475%, so I wouldn’t recommend chasing it
Bottom-fishing watchlist:
- SQD — Down 68%, consolidating for 60 days
- RECALL — Down 75%, consolidating for 70 days
- POWER — Down 96.5%, consolidating for 30 days (high risk, high potential reward)
My view: A weak market can actually give smart money a better window to accumulate. Keep an eye on FLOCK and MANTRA. If their volume ratios stay above 20x tomorrow and prices hold up, that would be a genuine accumulation signal, and you could follow with a small position.
Which coin looks most like it’s finished shaking out holders? Let’s discuss in the comments.
