🛡️ Is BlackRock about to give Bitcoin an “airbag”?

On October 19, BlackRock filed an application with the SEC for a new ETF: the iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF, ticker PBIT.

The idea is pretty interesting:
🔹 Instead of holding Bitcoin directly, it uses call options and fixed-income assets to provide exposure to IBIT, its fund with around $65 billion in assets
🔹 It initially offers about 10% downside protection
🔹 The trade-off is that potential gains are capped
🔹 The fee, cap on returns, and launch date haven’t been announced yet

That same day, IBIT also recorded a huge net inflow of about $665 million. Demand hasn’t let up at all.

My take: This kind of product is clearly aimed at financial advisors and more conservative investors. People who fear volatility and wouldn’t dare buy crypto directly might get their first exposure to Bitcoin this way. For Bitcoin’s price, it’s another door opening. But for us seasoned crypto investors, is a capped return really that appealing? 😂

Would you be willing to give up some upside in exchange for 10% downside protection? Let’s discuss in the comments 👇
