Just now, Google made its decision: Starting October 21, 2026, exchanges and software wallets holding locally regulated UAE licenses can run crypto ads on Google Ads. Those without licenses will still be unable to advertise.

- Scope: This rule applies to cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallets targeting users in the UAE, as well as CFDs and rolling spot forex.
- Accepted licenses: Exchanges/wallets may use licenses from the CMA, DFSA, FSRA, or VARA; CFDs/forex are limited to CMA, DFSA, and FSRA licenses. Previously, only VARA or FSRA multilateral trading facility licenses were accepted. CMA and DFSA have now been added, giving licensed businesses more options.
- Certification requirements: Advertisers must complete Google's certification process in their Google Ads account. All ad formats require certification. Once approved, the status will be “Eligible (Limited),” meaning ads can only run with restrictions.
- Still prohibited: Ads for ICOs, DeFi trading protocols, and crypto lending remain prohibited. Unlicensed projects cannot pass certification, and violations may result in a warning or even account suspension.
- Targeting considerations: The rule applies based on whether ads target UAE users, not where the company is registered. Licenses held by different entities under the same brand cannot be used interchangeably.

What this means for everyday users: Crypto ads appearing in UAE searches will generally be for platforms licensed and certified by Google. This may increase trust, but users should still verify platforms' credentials and watch out for counterfeit ads.

Do you think this will make crypto ads in the UAE more trustworthy?
