Why do people often say Bitcoin needs “6 confirmations,” while Ethereum talks about “finality”?
Definition: Ethereum blocks generally reach the “finalized” state after two epochs (about 12.8 minutes).
The logic behind it: The number of confirmations an exchange requires for a deposit is essentially how long it waits for the transaction to reach a level of finality it considers safe.
On Ethereum, staked $ETH is the guarantee of finality: overturning a finalized block would mean losing a substantial amount of stake.
Don’t place an order just because everyone else is doing it.
