Crypto Basics ๐Ÿ“š Merkle Trees
A Bitcoin block header is only 80 bytes long, and it contains the Merkle root of all the transactions in the block.
A Merkle tree is a tree-shaped structure that hashes large amounts of data in pairs, then combines them layer by layer. The hash at the very top is called the Merkle root.
It took me paying too much tuition to realize: read the instructions first.
The header of every $BTC block records a Merkle root that summarizes all the transactions in that block. Currently 81648.06.
