【Market Flash】A $400 million all-stock acquisition. Circle isn’t buying a payments company—it’s buying collection rails across more than 100 markets.
On September 8, Circle reached an agreement with Singapore-based payments platform Tazapay, with the deal expected to close in 2027. Tazapay processes over $25 billion in annualized payment volume and is connected to more than 60 banks and financial partners. About 60% of its transaction volume already runs on stablecoins.
USDC’s circulating supply is around $73.3 billion, with roughly a quarter of the market and over 60% of transaction volume. Fiat payment rails are the toughest to build; buying an established network is much faster than negotiating with banks country by country.
Do you see this move as an accelerator for USDC’s expansion, or a gamble on buying access at a high price?
