The stated limit is 30%, but actual exposure could exceed 30%.
This morning, I saw discussion about crypto vaults holding tens of billions of dollars. What I care more about is when the risk-control parameters are checked. Take Morpho Vault V2 as an example: the official documentation says the limit is checked when funds are allocated; positions are not automatically brought back under the limit around the clock.
Here’s an example of how the mechanism works: total assets are 100, with 30 allocated to a particular asset. If 50 of the other assets are withdrawn while that original 30 remains untouched, its share rises to 60%. Accrued yield could also push exposure over the limit. Lowering that asset’s limit to zero will only prevent new allocations; it won’t automatically withdraw funds already allocated.
So when I look at a vault, I don’t just check “what limit was set.” I also look at actual exposure and whether the allocation is genuinely withdrawn. This is a reminder about how the mechanism works, not a claim that any vault has run into trouble today. Would you pay more attention to the limit shown on the page, or to the current actual allocation?
