10 million $CYS were illicitly minted through a bridge vulnerability, and the attacker sold off 7.2 million before being stopped.
Cysic’s cross-chain bridge on BNB Chain was just exploited, creating 10 million CYS tokens with no assets backing them. The attacker managed to dump 7.2 million onto the market before the team activated a blacklist and froze the remainder—exactly 76 minutes after the illicit mint.
The proceeds, worth about $727,000 in ether, have been moved to the Ethereum network.
The Cysic Foundation confirmed that it temporarily suspended the entire bridge immediately after the incident and said other users’ funds were unaffected. There is still no sign of the transferred ether being returned.
If you hold CYS through this bridge, wait for an official announcement and don’t rush to trade.
What to watch today: whether the bridge reopens, and whether affected users will be compensated.
Personal observations, not investment advice.
