🏦 The banking app used by 50 million customers in Germany can now let you buy BTC directly!

Starting October 19, Germany’s Sparkassen savings banks are opening crypto trading in their official app at an initial group of branches:
✅ Coins: $BTC $ETH $SOL XRP POL
✅ Just €0.99 per order, plus spread
✅ Custody provided by DekaBank, in partnership with the Stuttgart Stock Exchange
✅ The bank says 30–40 more branches will join each month, with the goal of covering most interested branches in the first half of 2027; over 230 branches have already expressed interest

⚠️ But there’s a major drawback: assets are held in custody by DekaBank, and you can’t transfer them to your own hardware wallet for now. “Not your keys, not your coins”—that’s the divide between the on-chain crowd and the banking crowd.

📌 My take: This is an “on-ramp” positive from one of Europe’s largest retail networks. Growth will be gradual; it won’t send prices soaring tomorrow. BTC is currently around $81,900 (24h +0.98%), and the Fear & Greed Index is at 59, leaning toward greed.

Do you think banks entering through their apps is a long-term positive, or does it “lock coins in a cage”? Let’s discuss in the comments 👇
