Lighter has launched BTC and ETH binary options on Core. According to ChainCatcher, the decentralized perpetuals protocol announced the rollout. Built using Ethereum zero-knowledge proofs, Lighter says it publishes proofs of order-matching time, price, and priority on Ethereum to make trades verifiable and fair.

Lighter founder and CEO Vladimir Novakovski said the protocol is focusing on options this quarter, starting with binary options and planning to move toward on-chain European options that share a balance sheet with perpetuals. Users can trade spot, options, and perpetuals on the same platform, enabling strategies such as basis trading and delta hedging.

Lighter says its latency is in the tens of milliseconds, compared with more than 500 milliseconds on some competing platforms. The U.S.-based company is seeking a license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission; if approved, it would be the first on-chain trading venue to obtain one.
