France really blew up this weekend. More than 2,000 people were arrested, at least two people died, mayors were told to impose “partial curfews,” and on Monday protesters even blocked the entrance to the Louvre. The world’s most expensive painting had to take the day off.
How absurd was the trigger? A high school kicked off a teachers’ shortage protest, which ended up turning into a Europe-wide cost-of-living march: Belgium, Italy, Portugal and Greece all joined in, and the century-old city hall in Limoges even had its roof burn down.
The crypto crowd is out in full force:
Paris shopkeepers are boarding up their windows overnight to keep them from getting smashed; they’re stocking up on sealant.
Crypto folks only care that $BTC is still stuck at 82K—after all, the flames can’t reach the charts.
Most surreal of all, Macron went on TV to ask, “How could the French turn against France?”—then promptly held a security meeting.
Same world, two kinds of chaos: one side fighting over bread in the streets, the other scrambling for tokens on-chain—one place has its doors smashed in, the other has orders placed.
Market outlook: A) Europe’s turmoil hits risk assets first; B) whether it goes up or not is another question, but at least BTC, the “digital fortress,” can’t burn down. Which side are you betting on? Drop your pick in the comments.
