What can on-chain data tell us, and what can’t it tell us?
One person can have many addresses, and an exchange address may hold assets belonging to many users. The number of addresses is not the same as the number of users.
A “whale” generally refers to an address or institution holding a large amount of a particular token. There’s no universal standard for what counts as a whale.
The most important thing to keep in mind when managing your positions: when you see breaking news about “whale movements,” first check who owns the address and where the coins ended up. Don’t trade based on the headline alone.
