$BTC is now trading at $81,877, up just 0.56% in 24 hours. The market looks calm, but there’s already a tug-of-war brewing beneath the surface.

Among public companies, Strategy just added 267 coins this week, spending over a billion dollars in total and buying back its own preferred shares along the way. Strive went even harder, adding 4,045 coins in a week at an average price just below $82,800, bringing its total holdings to 36,818 coins. Together, the two companies scooped up 4,312 coins this week, each buying in at lower prices than the other.

Leverage on-chain tells a completely different story. A $200 million exposure caught between longs and shorts has entered a highly liquidation-sensitive zone, with both sides watching each other’s liquidation levels. Public companies are slowly buying at lower prices, while the futures market is betting on liquidations at higher prices. The two orders are facing off—whoever blinks first loses the advantage.

With this kind of divergence, the biggest danger isn’t a drop—it’s running out of patience while the market moves sideways, waiting for a direction. Only talk about acceleration after the price breaks above the $83,000 zone, where liquidation levels are concentrated. A drop below $80,500—the cost basis zone where public companies have been accumulating—would confirm a short-term top.
