$HYPE : THE PROTOCOL IS BUYING BACK ITS OWN TOKEN BY THE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS
Hyperliquid has something many altcoins lack: a connection between platform activity and demand for its token.
According to data from the Strata Terminal tracker as of October 19, the Assistance Fund has bought back $HYPE worth approximately $1.37 billion in total, including $69.2 million over the past 30 days.
The mechanism is interesting: funds from the fund are used to buy the token on the open market. This creates additional demand tied to the platform’s own activity.
My view: if Hyperliquid continues to maintain high trading volumes, the buyback mechanism will remain an important argument in favor of $HYPE . But buybacks don’t guarantee growth—the selling pressure could prove stronger.
