Don’t focus only on BTC this week! Three major events could determine where the market goes

There are three events this week that I recommend adding to your trading calendar in advance.
That doesn’t mean BTC will definitely rise or fall as soon as the news breaks. But around these dates, market sentiment and volatility could change suddenly.

First: October 20 — the SEC’s public comment period on its crypto regulatory proposal ends.
Regulation has always been an unavoidable topic in the crypto market. After the CLARITY Act hit a roadblock, the next steps for the SEC’s proposed rules are worth watching.
But keep in mind: the end of the comment period doesn’t mean the rules will take effect right away. What will really affect the market is how things move forward and whether the regulator’s stance becomes clearer than the market expects.

Second: October 27–28 — the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting.
This could be one of next week’s most important macro events to watch closely.
The market cares about more than just whether the Fed raises or cuts rates. It also wants to know what signals the Fed sends about inflation, the economy, and the future path of interest rates.
If its language is hawkish, risk assets could come under pressure. If its stance isn’t as tough as expected, the market could rebound.
Remember this: you’re not trading the news itself, but the gap between the news and market expectations.

Third: PCE inflation data.
PCE is one of the inflation indicators the Fed pays close attention to. If inflation remains stubborn, expectations for rate cuts could be dampened. If the data eases, the market’s outlook on interest rates could shift as well.
However, check the official U.S. calendar for the exact release date and the data period. Don’t mistake expectations for results that have already been published.

So how would I respond?
First, don’t blindly add leverage before major news releases.
Second, don’t chase a rally just because of one positive headline, or rush to short because of one negative headline.
Third, focus on how BTC actually reacts after the news comes out: Can it hold key support? Is buying pressure sustained after a breakout? Are spot market inflows following through?
I’ve always believed that news can create volatility, but what really determines whether a trade wins or loses is your entry, position management, and stop-loss discipline.
