Market reports say Strive bought 1,223 BTC, increasing its holdings to 36,818 BTC, while spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of $229 million last week.

Other reports on the same day said Strategy bought 267 BTC over the past week and spent $193 million repurchasing STRC shares. Both companies continue to add to their holdings, running counter to the direction of ETF flows. The market debate is not about whether institutions are buying, but whether these purchases can offset broader outflows.

All three figures currently come from brief reports and have yet to be cross-checked against company disclosures and detailed fund flow data. The amount of BTC bought by companies also cannot be directly subtracted from ETF net outflows in dollar terms. The next things to verify are the disclosures of these purchases and whether ETF flows turn positive again this week.

If ETF outflows continue, can the accumulation by a handful of companies still be called a recovery in institutional demand for BTC?
