Microsoft abandoned Nscale’s planned AI data center in Loughton, Essex, after UK Power Networks warned grid capacity may not be available until the early-to-mid 2030s. The site was intended to supply 50 megawatts of Azure computing capacity using 23,040 Nvidia chips by early 2027, according to CoinDesk. Nscale has cleared the site and is exploring other power options, while saying its other Microsoft contracts remain in place. Britain’s data center connection requests total about 73 gigawatts.
