This Gibraltar DLT license is about the compliance channel moving first, not tonight’s quote. Revolut’s newly established crypto entity, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited, has obtained a distributed ledger technology license. What I’m watching is scale: over 80 million retail customers and 16 million crypto users. The people are already there; what’s missing is the license that can take the business outward. I only partly buy the idea that the license supports expansion. A Gibraltar license is a local pass, not a simultaneous green light for the global market. Next, I’m waiting to see which crypto business they attach to this entity, not the word expansion in the headline. Out of those 16 million users, how many do you think will really make one more trade just because of this license?
