⚡️ Three Satoshi Nakamoto-era wallets “woke up” over the weekend

Dormant wallets are addresses from which no coins have moved for years. Over the weekend, three such wallets from 2013 transferred BTC to new addresses, according to OnchainLens and Galaxy Research.

➤ Two wallets (dormant for 13 and 12 years) sent 416.69 BTC (about $33.8 million) to the same address

➤ The third wallet was first funded on September 11, 2013, and no coins had ever left it. It has now transferred 411.45 BTC (about $33.4 million). According to Galaxy’s estimates, the profit was about $33.5 million, with an average purchase price of around $127

➤ In total, about 828 BTC (around $67 million) moved

It is not yet known where the coins went: the recipient of the third wallet has not been identified, and no sale has been confirmed.

One theory is that an unknown quantum computer is hacking old wallets, but there is no evidence. According to Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, none of the whales his firm works with have cited quantum risk as the reason for their transfers.
