Grayscale has made a counterintuitive move with HYPE: while others sell, it steps in to buy. On-chain analytics platform Arkham revealed that Grayscale’s HYPG has made net purchases of $7.8 million worth of $HYPE over the past 20 days. Inflows occurred on just three of those days; the rest of the time, it was quietly accumulating. Over the same period, another product, THYP, recorded $20.9 million in outflows. One buying, the other selling—their flows are moving in completely opposite directions.

$HYPE is currently quoted at $79.38, and Grayscale’s decision to add to its position at this level suggests that its view differs from that of short-term traders. The $7.8 million is not a particularly large sum in absolute terms, but the signal is worth considering: when a major asset manager builds a position through a series of small purchases, it can be more intriguing than a single large order. THYP’s significant outflows may be due to redemptions or portfolio rebalancing, and don’t necessarily indicate a bearish outlook. Still, the contrast between the two products’ fund flows is striking.

Here’s the question: Did Grayscale’s net buying over these 20 days mean it spotted something early, or was it simply passive product-level allocation? If HYPE’s price keeps rising, could this $7.8 million position give it a reason to add even more? Share your thoughts in the comments.
