#拉脱维亚议会通过加密货币税法 Europe’s crypto regulation takes another step forward! Latvia’s parliament recently passed a new cryptocurrency tax bill, completely overhauling the existing tax rules. It is expected to take effect in 2027.
Three major changes
1. Major overhaul of the tax approach
Taxation will no longer be calculated on a transaction-by-transaction basis. Instead, tax will be levied on the difference between withdrawals and deposits, greatly simplifying tax reporting for retail investors.
2. Crypto tax payment option
Starting in 2027, people will be able to pay personal taxes directly with cryptocurrency, making Latvia one of the few European countries to support paying taxes in crypto.
3. One-time 10% unified reporting window
A tax amnesty program will allow holders to report existing crypto assets at a flat 10% tax rate in a one-time filing, reducing compliance costs.
Industry impact $BTC
With this tax reform, Latvia balances regulatory compliance with user-friendliness. It is likely to become a model for a new European standard in crypto taxation, benefiting European retail investors and institutions seeking to enter the market compliantly.
