The Bank of England is examining whether Barclays (LON:BARC) traders misrepresented illiquid private-credit loans in order to reduce the bank’s regulatory capital requirements, the Financial Times reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the central bank’s Prudential Regulation Authority received a complaint earlier this year concerning Barclays’ classification of derivatives linked to private-credit loans.
