Karpeles: Ledger knew about the implants, but only gave a warning in its educational section. A more prominent warning, he says, would have prevented losses of over $90 million. But that’s researchers’ estimate, not Ledger’s, and nobody has proved the losses could have been avoided

Ledger — confirmed fund thefts, so far only in Southeast Asia
Karpeles — implants found: on October 15, his database had 12 confirmed cases; now it has 13. In 8 of them, the seller wasn’t CryptoBilis. He’s the one who marks them as “confirmed”
And more important than the argument is one sentence from Ledger’s guide: Genuine Check can’t detect added components if the Secure Element is genuine
So get a wallet directly from the manufacturer. Buying from a reseller now is a gamble
