As of 11:00, both $GRAM and $HYPE are trading below their moving averages, so it’s a good time to talk about moving-average alignment, one of the most straightforward tools for assessing trends.

Put simply, a moving average takes the closing prices over a past period, calculates their average, and plots it as a line to show the direction and strength of a trend. Looking at how several moving averages with different timeframes are arranged is more meaningful than looking at just one. For example, $GRAM is currently at 1.348, while its daily MA7 is 1.361, MA25 is 1.461, and MA99 is 1.421. From shortest to longest, the three lines are in a “bearish alignment” (the short-term line is below the longer-term lines, and the price has also fallen below all three). This is usually interpreted as a sign of a weak trend, with overhead resistance even on the monthly timeframe. By contrast, $HYPE is currently at 79.49 and has just moved above the 4h MA20, but the daily MA7 (80.17) and MA25 (86.22) are still above it. This suggests signs of stabilization in the short term, but the moving averages on longer timeframes have not yet flattened out, so this cannot simply be treated as a reversal signal.

There are two common pitfalls: first, drawing conclusions from just one moving average, which can leave you vulnerable to false breakouts. For example, briefly moving above the 4h moving average does not necessarily mean the trend has reversed; you also need to see whether longer timeframes confirm it. Second, treating moving averages as absolute support or resistance levels and relying on them too rigidly. In reality, moving averages are just averages of past prices and are highly lagging indicators. Indicators such as RSI14 ($GRAM is at 42 and $HYPE at 36, both in the neutral-to-weak range) can be used for cross-checking. No single tool can explain everything. Moving averages are better suited to assessing trend direction and relative strength, not identifying precise buy or sell points.
