The same $DOGE , but two wildly different shares—which one counts?

CoinMarketCap’s quarterly outlook for 2026-10-18 puts the meme sector at around $30 billion, with DOGE accounting for about 51%. Over the same 24-hour period, Binance spot’s 178 USDT trading pairs recorded a combined trading volume of 3,004,777,966 USDT, of which $DOGE 46,101,673.78, accounting for 1.53%—I calculated this percentage myself. The trading data is through 2026-10-19T01:00Z; the sector listings were retrieved at 01:1xZ.

Both figures can be verified; the difference is in the denominator. The denominator for 51% is the total market size of the meme category, while the denominator for 1.53% is the trading volume of all Binance USDT pairs that day.

Dividing these two figures, or treating 51% as DOGE’s share of trading activity, ignores the denominator.
