$TIA This 16% pump actually has a particularly painful catch: the price has surged, but the amount of data published on the #celestia mainnet is actually falling.
In other words, TIA climbed from around $0.39 in mid-September to about $0.74, gaining over 80% in four weeks. During the same period, $BTC barely moved, while $ETH continued to fall.
The chart looks impressive, but its funding rate is still negative. That suggests the shorts haven’t “surrendered,” and the longs haven’t been squeezed out either—it’s a short-squeeze-style rally. But a quick look at on-chain data makes things awkward…
The amount of blob data Celestia publishes each day fell from around 2.77 billion bytes on September 18 to about 2.05 billion bytes on October 15.
Put simply: buyers are betting on expectations, not real growth in the existing business.
I think the main catalyst behind this rally was Eden.
On October 16, Celestia launched an EVM chain called Eden, a sandbox for experimenting with AI agents, where TIA is used to pay gas fees. Sounds impressive, right? The idea is that if AI agents conduct lots of on-chain transactions in the future, TIA will be the fuel. But the problem is that Eden is currently just a closed-testing sandbox, and Botfun is full of bots issuing tokens, trading with one another, and “making up stories.” There’s an enormous gap between the hype around this thing and TIA’s market cap 😂
Some data shows that Eden’s experiment briefly made it into the top ranks by transaction volume on the x402 network. But “experiment” is the word Celestia itself uses—not “product,” and certainly not “revenue”…
In the short term, an 80% gain for TIA in four weeks isn’t outrageous for a token that’s been in a bear market for a long time, but chasing the rally is already poor value. If the novelty of Eden wears off and there’s no real usage to take its place, there’s a good chance the price will take the elevator back down.
In the medium to long term, whether it can truly turn things around depends on whether Celestia’s DA business itself gains traction—not on an AI sandbox “propping things up”~
