2026-10-19 Market Morning Briefing

【Top Stories】
1. Qubic disclosed that about 2.94 trillion QU were transferred out of 1,404 wallets between 07:42 and 09:26 Beijing time on the 18th. The cause was traced to insufficient randomness when some wallet seeds were generated. The project said it has fixed the seed-generation function and coordinated a protective network pause and the freezing of related funds. Follow-up attention will focus on how the funds are handled and on compensation plans. Fixing the function does not mean affected users have recovered their assets.
2. On the 18th, Cysic published its investigation into the cross-chain bridge incident on the 17th: an attacker minted 10 million CYS without authorization. The foundation said the issue was limited to bridge message processing and token minting, and that the mainnet and users’ existing wallet assets were unaffected. At the time of the announcement, transfers of about 2.8 million CYS had been restricted. The actual loss is still being assessed; the number of tokens minted cannot be directly treated as a dollar-denominated loss.
3. The White House Rapid Response account posted remarks by Bessent on the 18th. He attributed current pressures to an energy shock and said prices would fall after the Iran conflict. This is an official’s assessment of the outlook and does not yet confirm that inflation has turned around.
