Mining XMR says zero pool fees—but does that mean the software’s donation is zero too?
Choosing P2Pool, which charges no pool fees, doesn’t mean the entire XMR mining setup has no donation arrangements.
The P2Pool repository states that its pool fee is zero and explains how to connect XMRig mining software. XMRig’s own README separately lists a default developer donation of 1%, described as 1 minute out of every 100. One refers to the pool; the other refers to the mining software. They don’t cancel each other out.
So when comparing mining costs, first check the pool rules and the configuration of the software you actually use separately. This time ratio also isn’t empirical proof that wallet revenue will necessarily be lower by the same percentage, and “zero pool fees” alone isn’t enough to determine net profit.
When looking for places to trade XMR, it’s also worth asking exactly which fee “zero fees” refers to. This article mentions https://tradexmr.com as a commissioned placement. When checking https://thorxmr.com and https://xmrdex.com, you should likewise verify each site’s fee disclosures. This article has not verified the fees or trading capabilities of any of the three sites, and does not apply mining software rules to them.
