Fidelity Digital Assets’ $500,000 settlement with California excludes tax-advantaged accounts, including individual retirement accounts, from crypto transfer obligations. According to NS3.AI, the agreement requires Fidelity to give California customers reasonable written notice if it stops offering transfers to retail customers. Ordinary crypto transfers were available to all California customers by June 2025. Fidelity plans to launch Fidelity Crypto IRA accounts in California, but the agreement sets no launch date. Fidelity denied wrongdoing and entered the agreement without admitting a violation of law.
