đ Apple users, donât panic just yetâbut read this first
Qubic officially disclosed on October 18: Between 7:42 and 9:26 a.m. Beijing time that day, in just 104 minutes, 1,404 wallets were drained of around 2.94 trillion QU (about $1.3 million).
In plain English: The hackers didnât touch the blockchain itself. They exploited a weakness in wallet seedsâseeds generated by older Apple devices and browsers werenât random enough and could be reverse-engineered. Itâs like the teeth on your house key were too easy to guess, so a thief simply made a copy.
The good news? This may be the most frustrating crypto heist in history:
Validators hit pause on the entire network (tick 85,371,949). 87.1% of the stolen funds are still stuck on-chain and havenât gone anywhere; the remaining 12.9% had just been transferred to MEXC, and the exchange froze them immediately.
They stole $1.3 million, but didnât get to spend a cent. The whole lot was caught red-handed.
Qubic says the seed-generation vulnerability was fixed in version 4.26.4. Whether and how the stolen funds will be returned will be decided by a validator quorum vote.
A heads-up to everyone using $BTC $ETH $SOL : No matter how secure the chain is, it canât make up for a weak wallet seed. Check whether your wallet was generated by an older version.

Hereâs the question: 87% of the stolen funds are frozen on-chain. Do you think validators should return them directly to the victims? Share your thoughts in the comments.
