Over the past 4 hours, Binance futures liquidations totaled about $21.85 million, with long positions accounting for 93.7% ($20.48 million in longs / $1.37 million in shorts). The largest liquidation was $ETH .

Let’s use this figure to talk about liquidations.

The liquidation data Binance pushes is a snapshot: each trading pair can receive at most one update per second, so the actual liquidation volume is often higher.

The often-mentioned “long squeeze” refers to falling prices triggering liquidations of long positions, with the resulting sell orders pushing prices down further. A “short squeeze” is the opposite: rising prices trigger liquidations of short positions, and covering those positions pushes prices even higher.

Working backward from where you’d place your stop-loss to determine position size is much more reliable than choosing a position size on a whim.
