According to Jin10, CSIS expert Mark Cancian said the U.S. military used as many Patriot interceptor missiles during about seven months of fighting with Iran as the United States had purchased over roughly 19 years. CSIS estimated that the United States had about 2,200 to 2,330 newer Patriot interceptors before the war and used about 1,060 to 1,500, leaving roughly one-third of the prewar stockpile. Before the war, the United States purchased an average of about 225 interceptors annually. Lockheed Martin currently produces about 600 to 650 a year for the United States and its allies. CSIS estimates that it will take the United States at least three years to restore its prewar stockpile and warned that another major conflict during that period could create a “vulnerable window.”
